Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan Adopted!
We’re excited to share that the Mountain View City Council adopted the Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan on June 23, 2026! This Plan is a long-term roadmap to guide biodiversity conservation, urban forest management, habitat enhancement, and climate resilience efforts throughout Mountain View. It includes goals, strategies, and actions focused on protecting and enhancing biodiversity, strengthening the urban forest, improving habitat connectivity, increasing climate resilience, and supporting community well-being.
The adopted Plan reflects a collaborative effort shaped by community voices, technical expertise, and input from City staff, advisory bodies, stakeholders, and City Council. From workshops and surveys to pop-up events, multilingual outreach, stakeholder conversations, and neighborhood-based activities, community participation helped inform the Plan’s priorities and direction. The City is grateful to everyone who shared their time, ideas, and perspectives throughout this process.
As part of the adoption process, Council also approved additional refinements to the Plan's definitions section to improve clarity and better distinguish native species. Staff will incorporate these refinements into the final adopted version of the Plan, which will be posted on this webpage when available.
With the Plan now adopted, the City will begin implementation by advancing near-term actions, developing monitoring and reporting metrics and procedures, and integrating Plan concepts into future projects, programs, and investments.
Thank you again to everyone who helped shape this important community effort. We look forward to working together to advance the Plan's vision and support a healthier, greener, and more resilient Mountain View
The final adopted Plan will be posted here soon.
