Public Art Strategy Adopted!

The Mountain View City Council officially adopted the City’s first-ever Public Art Strategy on October 27, 2026! Built on extensive community engagement and stakeholder input, this Strategy establishes a roadmap to guide public art policies, support local artists, and identify important investments that the City can make to establish foundational guidelines for the long-term care and stewardship of the city’s collection.

As part of the adoption process, Council approved additional refinements to streamline mural permits, expand opportunities for early-career and youth artists, broaden geographic requirements for artists, and distinguish between art and urban design. Staff will incorporate these refinements into the final adopted version of the Strategy, which will be posted online here and at EconDev.MountainView.Gov/Public-Art when available.

With the Strategy now adopted, the City will begin implementation by advancing near-term actions and integrating guiding strategies into future projects, programs, and investments. Thank you to everyone who helped shape this vision to establish Mountain View as a vibrant, arts-forward destination!
