CITY OF MOUNTAIN VIEW PUBLIC ART STRATEGY 2025-2026

The City of Mountain View is developing a comprehensive Public Art Strategy to guide the future of public art in Mountain View. Building upon the work of the City’s Visual Arts Committee, this strategy will:

  • Establish a long-term vision and goals for public art in Mountain View
  • Identify implementation priorities
  • Explore funding strategies
  • Plan for maintenance and care for artworks

This is a multi-phase project that will culminate in a comprehensive 10-year Public Art Strategy, guiding the future of public art in Mountain View over the next ten years.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT UPDATE

Community engagement and the online survey are now complete. Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas, experiences, and vision for public art in Mountain View.

Throughout Fall 2025, the City and consultant team engaged residents, workers, visitors, artists, and stakeholders through a variety of outreach efforts, including:

  • Pop-up engagement with hands-on art activities at community events

  • Public workshops held both online and in person

  • A multilingual online survey

  • Focus groups and interviews with community stakeholders

HOW YOUR FEEDBACK SHAPES THE STRATEGY

Input gathered so far will be combined with the Visual Arts Committee’s vision, stakeholder interviews, and best practices to refine the Strategy’s goals, priorities, and recommended action items. Community values, practical considerations, and VAC guidance will all inform the final Public Art Strategy.

Thank you for helping shape the next decade of public art in Mountain View. More updates will be shared as the project progresses into 2026!

WHAT'S NEXT

The project is now moving into the drafting of recommendations, where community feedback will be translated into goals, priorities, and implementation strategies for the Public Art Strategy. A draft strategy will be shared for public review before being considered by the Mountain View City Council, anticipated for summer 2026.
