Age groups: K-8th grade, High School, Community Members (18+)
The Mountain View Earth and Arbor Day Photo Contest marks the City's first joint Earth and Arbor Day Celebration! Entry is open to all Mountain View community members, including people who live, go to school, and work in Mountain View and their families.
Prizes: First place winners in each age group win an America the Beautiful Parks Pass, plus other parks and activity passes! See Rules for details.
Submit your photo below by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.
This year’s theme is “Rooted in Our Environment.” Competing images must include nature/the environment, and we seek photographs that depict the beauty, biodiversity, and resilience of the environment in and around our City. Examples include photos of trees, plants, animals, and people interacting with the environment, either up close or from afar.
Read all Contest Rules before entering, for ex. photos must be in Mountain View and 1 entry per person.
Then spread the word - voting for Voter's Choice Favorite will be here from 5:01 p.m. April 10 until 11:59 p.m. April 14. The photo with the most votes will win Voter's Choice Favorite in each age group.
- Entries that do not follow Contest rules will be removed and not eligible to win.

Witnessing Nature’s Transformative Journey
This is a picture I took just across my window . I have grew up watching these two beautiful trees for the last 17 years. They have grown, changed, battled fierce weather conditions , shed their leaves and emerge as beautiful and strong they can be with every passing year. I relate their journey with mine, as a teenager, mentally and physically I also go through these phases. The valuable process of change that nature teaches us is so simple and yet amazing. Every time I am stressed I just look outside my window and I feel comforted. Not just in a literal way but for me Nature is healing and continues to reminds me to stay resilient and keep going through tough times as it will pass through and I would emerge stronger and more better and better

On My Sidewalk but Undisturbed
I love that ginkgos are our street tree on Winfield Drive. I noticed this leaf on the sidewalk in front of my house while stretching before a morning run. It had emerged undisturbed (nay, victorious) from the morning chaos of pedestrians, dogs, and strollers. (Kathleen M.)
